Anukul
‘Anukul’ is a short film directed by Sujoy Gosh written by Satyajit Ray which portrays how human job has been gobbled down by AI product. This film portrays the future which turned out to be partially true. During the course of the film, we see that the robot learns something new from Nikunj which is very different.
The film starts on the note that Nikunj Chaturvedi buys a robot form Kolkata’s Chowringhee’ s Robot supply corporative on an EMI plan in order to keep him as a house helper. Anukul is very fond of reading books. Nikunj is informed that Anukul would function 24/7 without break nor sleep which sounds quite impossible for anyone be it a machine or a human being. The lady in charge of giving Anukul to Mr. Nikunj informs him that Anukul should not be hit otherwise the consequences would be brutal. There is a warning given to Mr. Nikunj but is cut in between and the story line begins from here.
The next morning Ratan comes back and is unhappy to Anukul
still there. Ratan had come to give a piece of news which seemed to benefit
only him which was that their uncle (Nibaran) was dead and all the wealth he
possessed would be handed over to Ratan since he was the next heir. Nikunj
wanted to attend the funeral so he went inside to get dressed and at the same
time he heard a loud sound from the hall and when he went to see… he saw that
Ratan was lying on the floor. When he asked Anukul he mentioned he was about to be
hit and gave a high voltage electric shock to Ratan. When the body was to be
taken it was mentioned that due to the loud thunder sound Ratan suffered a
heart attack and passed away. The lawyer came and mentioned that since Nikunj
was the next heir he was given 11 crores of wealth and property from his uncle.
Nikunj was shocked to hear that.
The story ends on the note saying that one should always listen to their heart (dil).
